as an avid fan of art in almost any form, the idea to do an impressionism based photographic project sounded like a lot of fun. i don't recall where the idea came from, it was partly through the abstract and nebulous work i have seen people create with pinhole cameras and holgas, and partly through some of the terrible "impressionism" photography i have seen (simply mediocre photographs run through some filters in photoshop to create the aesthetic of a Monet or even Van Gogh).
on top of this, i had previously been working on an idea for a mixed media project that used metal prints (printed on sheets of aluminum), distressing said prints and then tagging them with stenciled grafitti in japanese. the tagging will be of japanese poetry, haiku, and poetry that has been translated which fits with the theme and aesthetic of the image.unfortunately my first concept image is not terribly good (the colors don't seem to jive with the internet). however, i spent a small amount of time creating this image (more for myself than anything else) and plan to make a physical, small scale sample in the next week or so.
as the project progresses, i will create a gallery of the images (without the tagging) for you to view. once the project meets its financial goal, i can start work on the final products. an update of these will show up as i'm working on them.
